Suitable materials
Magnesium and magnesium alloys, iron, a broad range of steels, aluminum alloys and stainless steel
Microemulsion Fluid for Magnesium and Its Alloys
MG50 is a microemulsion cutting fluid developed for machining magnesium and its alloys. It is also suitable for iron, steel, aluminum alloys and stainless steel. It combines cooling, lubricity, rust inhibition and corrosion protection, helping to reduce phase separation, short fluid life and workpiece discoloration from oxidation associated with conventional magnesium-alloy cutting fluids.

Fluid life in individual sumps can exceed 1 year
Formulated for magnesium and its alloys
Reduces phase separation and discoloration from oxidation
Resists bacterial growth, dilutes easily and has no adverse effect on lathe paint
Combined cooling, lubricity, rust inhibition and corrosion protection
Magnesium and magnesium alloys, iron, a broad range of steels, aluminum alloys and stainless steel
Maintain a working fluid refractometer reading of 4-12. Readings below 4 can promote bacterial growth and fluid deterioration; readings above 12 may increase skin irritation.
| Machining load | Working fluid refractometer reading | Mixing ratio (concentrate : water) | Daily top-up fluid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light duty | 4-5 | 1:15 - 1:10 | Daily top-up: refractometer reading 3 (1:20) |
| Medium duty | 5-8 | 1:10 - 1:7 | Daily top-up: refractometer reading 3-5 |
| Heavy duty | 10-12 | 1:6 - 1:4 | Daily top-up: refractometer reading 7-10 |
Base oil, rust inhibitor, emulsifier, lubricant, extreme-pressure additive, high-performance corrosion inhibitor, auxiliary additives, biocide and deionized water. The formulation contains no nitrite ions, hexavalent chromium ions, sodium nitrite, chlorine, sulfur or phenol.
Gradual color darkening during storage is normal and does not affect use. Do not mix with other oils. Magnesium chips and powder must be removed promptly in accordance with the facility’s fire-safety procedures.
